The West Bladen Knights are pleased to announce that preliminary data results released from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction on August 2, 2012 show we successfully graduated in the 2011-2012 school year more seniors than in years past! Our graduation rate grew by 4 percent this year, with 84.4 percent of West Bladen students graduating on time and with their cohort class. This exceeds the states average of 80 percent. Students are proud to be a part of the West Bladen team and we are proud of the 2011-2012 graduating class.
West Bladen didn’t stop there though, we saw our students make yearly expected growth in Biology, English I, and Composite EOC scores. Students took that a step farther and made high growth status in Biology, grew by 2% in English I and total EOC scores. The state average for Biology is 80 percent. West Bladen students exceeded that with a proficiency score of 81.72 percent. West Bladen Knights showed positive academic growth for the 2011-2012 school year.
Our results are a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, staff, parents and communities. West Bladen will continue to increase our expectations of students and will work to help our students be successful while we maintain the respect we have achieved. It truly is “Great to be a Knight”! 2013 will be a year of change with new Common Core standards in curriculum and instruction along with new teacher evaluations. Be on the lookout for “Data Walls” and a stronger focus on data driven instruction at West Bladen in 2013.
Very excited for our students return on August 27th!
